Dreaming of writing your own cookbook?

You’ve come to the right place.

My specialty is finding and telling authentic, meaningful stories through the lens of food. Aside from my own writing, I help chefs and others in food-related fields reach new audiences by helping them write their books and communicate their message across all platforms.

Writing a book is a daunting task for anyone, especially if you work a full-time job and prose is not your forte. That’s where I come in.

If you hire me, we’ll collaborate in this co-creative process that will produce a book you’ll be proud of forever. Beyond that this process will sharpen your focus to achieve success and happiness in all aspects of your life. I know it has done this for me, and the many talented people I’ve had the privilege to work with.

By Tenney Flynn with Susan Puckett

I was honored to help bring to life the remarkable story, recipes, and kitchen wisdom of the award-winning chef of GWFins in New Orleans, who the Wall Street Journal has called “the fishmonger czar of the Gulf region.” Watch him cook a dish from the book on Live with Kelly and Ryan, and check for upcoming book-related events here and at Chef Tenney Flynn’s GWFins’ website .

“I really enjoyed working with Susan throughout the entire book-writing process.  She is tireless and always ready to go the extra mile.”

Turnip Greens and Tortillas: A Mexican Chef Spices up the Southern Kitchen

By Eddie Hernandez and Susan Puckett

I spent seven years documenting the inspired methods of the executive chef of the wildly successful Taqueria del Sol restaurants in Atlanta and Nashville, a journey that begins in Monterrey, Mexico, and flourishes in his adopted South. Publishers Weekly, Epicurious, and several other media outlets named it a top cookbook pick for spring 2018, and the book and the chef have been prominently by in the April 2018 issue of Garden & Gun, the New York Times, CBS This Morning, NPR Weekend Edition, and many other media outlets. Check out this great 3-minute documentary of Chef Eddie’s story

Root to Leaf: A southern Chef Cooks Through the Seasons

By Steven Satterfield with coaching from Susan Puckett

In the acknowledgments, this award-winning Atlanta chef referred to me as his “local editor, writing coach, and surrogate wife.” He was kidding about the wife part, of course. We did work together in close partnership to execute his vision of a field guide to inspire and teach consumers to cook with locally available produce.

In its first month it was a #1 New Release on Amazon, and received positive reviews from the New York Times, Epicurious, Garden & Gun, and others.

Susan helped me realize my ‘inner voice’ and I will always appreciate that gift.

Eat Drink Delta: A Hungry Traveler’s Journey Through the Soul of the South

By Susan Puckett

The history and culture of the Mississippi Delta has long fascinated and mystified me. I embarked on a series of road trips to explore its distinctive foodways, from “the lobby of Peabody Hotel in Memphis to Catfish Row in Vicksburg,” and channeled my discoveries into a travel guide of sorts, with recipes.

In 2014, the Georgia Center for the Book named Eat Drink Delta one of Ten Books Every Georgian Should Read.

Citizen Farmers: The Biodynamic Way to Grow Healthy Food, Build Thriving Communities, and Give Back to the Earth

By Daron Joffe with Susan Puckett

I collaborated with one of the country’s most innovative leaders in organic farming practices to produce this inspiring call to action, with stories, gardening tips, and simple recipe ideas.

The International Association of Culinary Professionals awarded it the top prize in the Food Matters category of their 2015 Cookbook Awards competition!

There is no way I would have been able to finish this monumental task without Susan’s incredible writing skill and encouraging spirit.
